WHAT TO DO WITH A SPRAINED ANKLE

Good morning hikers and riders!!

Today I'm going to continue talking about security and first aid at the mountain because I think it is vital for a safety activities in our free time.

We saw in past publications what we need to carry for a efficient actions in relation with first aid and how we have to act if we have a broken leg or arm (and elbow). So today we are going to explain how to act if there is a sprained ankle.
Is important to know that you must suspect an ankle sprain if the casualty can't take their full weight on their foot after a fall or wrench.

What you have to do?
  1. Sit casualty down, raise their foot and gently remove the sock and shoe before swelling occurs.
  2. Apply a cold compress or icepack (if you have).
  3. Wrap the ankle with a thick layer of cotton wool. Bandage the cotton wool in place and keep the ankle raised.

If you want to know how to do correctly this immobilization just saw this video and learn it!! :)
